Brandon Phillips scored seven goals in leading Canada to a 10-6 1/2 win over the Dominican Republic Sunday morning at the Casa de Campo Resort in the Dominican Republic.

Canada (Brendon Stenzel Rob Stenzel, Brandon Phillips and Daniel Roenisch) scored a 10-6½ win over the Dominican Republic (Luis Paniagua, Johnny Alvarez, Denis Santana and Anton Tejeda) Sunday morning in the consolation round of play in the FIP Zone A competition to qualify for the 2015 FIP World Polo Championship.

Weighing in at 10-goals, the Dominican Republic received two-and-a-half goals by handicap from the 13-goal Canadian entry.  Canada scored the first goal from the field with Rob Stenzel connecting for a goal, 2½ -1.  Fouls sent Brandon Phillips to the penalty line where he converted a pair of penalty shots that put Canada on top, 3-2½.  Johnny Alvarez closed out the chukker with a penalty goal and a goal from the field.  At the end of the opening chukker, the Dominican Republic held a 4½-3 advantage.

Both Canada and the Dominican Republic played disciplined defense in the second period.  Neither team was able to score as the two headed into the third chukker with the Dominican Republic team still in the lead, 4½-3.

The Dominican Republic defense was solid in the third period, but fouls were their undoing again.  Phillips converted two penalty shots for goals for Canada while holding the Dominican Republic team to a single goals from Denis Santana.  The Dominican Republic continued to hold the advantage over Canada, 5½-5.

Brendon Stenzel opened the fourth chukker with a goal from the field that put Canada on top, 6-5½.  Phillips added another for a 7-5½ lead.  Alvarez scored the final goal of the chukker, cutting the Canadian lead to a half goal, 7-6½, with one chukker left to play.

The fifth and final chukker of the game was all Canada.  Two goals from the field from Phillips were complimented by a single goal from Brendon Stenzel while a stalwart Canadian defense held the Dominican Republic scoreless in the final seven minutes of play for the 10-6½ victory.

Phillips led all scoring with seven goals (four on penalty shots).  Brendon Stenzel scored twice and Rob Stenzel added a goal in the win.  Alvarez scored three times for the Dominican Republic (once on a penalty shot).  Santana added a goal and the team received two-and-a-half goas by handicap.

Canada finished the competition with a disappointing 1-2 record while the Dominican Republic went winless, 0-3.
